Camera scanning

The scanner asks for camera access only when you choose Open camera. Live frames are processed temporarily in your browser to compare them with saved recognition data. EchoInk does not upload, record or save these frames, and scanning does not use your microphone. Close the page or leave the scanner to stop the camera; you can also revoke permission in your browser settings.

Photos you choose to register

Registration and photo replacement require a signed-in account. Choosing or capturing a photo for registration sends a reduced-size copy to an external processing service through our Isolation technology to identify the tattoo. This happens before you press Save. EchoInk does not add that review photo to the tattoo archive until you save, but service processing and operational logs are subject to the service providers’ policies; we do not promise zero third-party retention.

What saving keeps

Saving a tattoo stores the accepted photo, its recognition data and isolated shape, title, and attached audio, image or link. Original recognition photos and account details remain restricted to the owner and studio. Active tattoos’ titles, recognition data, isolated shapes and attached content are available to public scanners, including tattoos already registered. Do not attach private or sensitive content.

Accounts and service operation

Account details are used to manage access and your collection. Sign-in uses browser session storage. Hosting, storage and processing providers may handle technical request information such as IP addresses and error logs to operate and protect the service. These are separate from live camera frames.

Removing saved content

Use your account’s tattoo controls, or contact the studio that created your account, to edit or delete saved tattoos. Deactivated or removed content stops appearing in new scanner requests. Previously issued media links can remain usable for up to ten minutes, and data already downloaded by another visitor cannot be recalled. Provider backups may have their own retention periods.

Your choice

You can browse without an account, decline camera permission, and avoid submitting any registration photo. Use only photos and content you have permission to share.
